The ROC is very active in Jail and Prison Ministries. Our Men's Jail Ministry leader (Don) and our Women's Jail Ministry leader (Tanya) provide weekly classes and encouragement at the Lubbock County Jail. In addition to jail and prison visitation and teaching to inmates, we also minister to their families, provide a welcoming place of worship and fellowship after release and partner with some awesome prison ministries (listed below). We believe obedience to God mandates our love, help and ministry to those in prison.

Matt. 34-40 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'

ON "TEXAS PAROLE REFORM BILL"

(According to the Texas State Web Site Link and Privacy Policy, we can link to their site, but cannot copy it onto our site.)

In the video, the Texas House Committee on Corrections heard testimony on House Bill 3377, filed by Congresswoman Terri Hodge of Dallas. It is worth your time to watch this session, including the testimony of our own Don Kubica! You can fast forward to the discussion on this bill (around 9:00 min.) or to Don's testimony (from around 41:45 min.). Representative Hodge and Vice-Chair Jerry Madden asked some good questions of the Parole Board. Hodge's bill proposes legislation to change the parole review process, giving inmates credit for good behavior - rather than only counting risks against them!

If you want this parole review reform, it is VERY IMPORTANT for each of you to write Representative Hodge (click here to email or click here for other contact information) and to your own state representative and senator (click here to find your representatives), telling them you strongly support HB 3377.
