Literacy Program

The ROC's adult literacy tutor is Jo Clark, a certified instructor with the Lubbock Area Coalition for Literacy. All materials are provided free to the student by LACL, through the Mahon library.

• The first step for interested individuals is being evaluated by a trained professional to determine the student's reading level.
  
• All tutoring is done on an individual basis so the student can progress at his/her own pace - without competition or feelings of "not measuring up" - which often happens in classroom settings.
  
• The LACL uses the Laubach method of teaching reading & all GED subjects. This method is normally better suited for adults, whether they are just beginning to read or preparing for GED testing.
